I didn't realize that pouring grease down the sink can cause a blockage in the drain. Whenever I make bacon or cook something with a lot of grease and fat, I've just poured the grease into the garbag disposal. From your article, I can tell that this is the reason that my sink is no longer draining properly and has a strange smell. I will start looking into a qualified plumber who can clear the pipes for me.
